About HPS

Welcome to the Hoylake Photographic Society blog. Through the blog we hope to keep club members and the public up to date about the club's activites and what our members are doing with their passion for photography.

Hoylake Photographic Society welcomes non members and prospective new members to its club based at Newton Village Hall in Grange Cross Lane, West Kirby on the Wirral Peninsula on Merseyside, UK. The club meets every Friday evening from 7.30pm - 10pm from September through to May.

We are a friendly and sociable group of approximately 45 amateur photographers with skills ranging from novice through to advanced all with a shared interest in the art of photography and the advancement of our skills.

There's a varied program of expert guest speakers, photo presentations and monthly club competitions with the aim of stimulating, educating and enjoying the photography of some of the best amateur photographers in North West of England and North Wales. The club also meets on alternate Wednesday evenings for more informal tutorials and to receive constructive critique of our photographic images.

Formed in 1951, we are a member club of the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain (PAGB) through our membership of the Lancashire and Cheshire Photographic Union (LCPU) which organises competitions, meetings and judges for the associated clubs. We are also members of the Photographic Society of America (PSA) and take part in their international inter-club competitions.
