London Salon

This Friday 20th April is a digital presentation of the prestigious London Salon. Images for the salon are chosen for their artistic merit. The salon is full of beautiful, thought provoking images, expertly commented on by Leigh Preston and Judith Parry. John and Margaret Sixsmith have seen the video presentation and report that the images are inspirational. Many members should take inspiration from what's on display.

On Friday 13th April, Barry Quatermass gave a digital presentation and critique of the Sony World Photography Awards. Barry wants to thank everyone who joined in the debate on the night on the Category Winners in the Sony World Photography Awards.

After much debate and some ruthless judging he can announce our prediction for the overall winner (if the Sony judges follow our marking on the night) will be Mikkel Better of Denmark for his image in the 'Travel' category. We placed Veselina Tanasov of Bulgaria second for her 'Landscape and Nature' entry whilst Andreas Pohl and Klaus Lanzen with their 'Architecture' and 'Enhanced' entries were equal in third place. The actual winners will be announced on the 19th April.

All the winners and commended images can be found at 2018 Open Shortlist Highlights / World Photography Organisation

The doors of Newton Village Hall, Grange Cross Lane, West Kirby will be open this Friday at 7.30pm for a 7.45pm start and a 10pm finish. Non members are welcome to attend paying £2 on the door.
